Community

Identifying and meeting the health and wellness needs of the community we serve is an important part of our mission.

We regularly assess these needs every three years with our Community Health Needs Assessment to identify and evaluate the health-related needs of our community. And we offer a wide variety of Community Wellness Resources designed to promote a healthy lifestyle for our area’s families and the members of our local workforce.

We invite you to learn more about our wellness programs. You may also want to consider offering your own time and skills to serve the health needs of our community. We’re very proud of our team of volunteers who generously contribute more than 70,000 hours of their time each year. We offer many different types of Volunteer Opportunities and are always ready to welcome new members to our team.

Healthy Kids Program

Childhood is a critical period of growth, development and learning. Positive health behaviors — like getting enough sleep, eating nutritious foods and being physically active — can help prevent diseases and improve health outcomes for children. This multi-week program teaches kids about the importance of developing healthy habits and lifestyles.

Participants will learn how to make nutritious food choices, be physically active, understand their emotions and prepare healthy meals. Best of all, they will learn how to make small changes that lead to a lifetime of health and wellness!

Healthy Kids Program Details
Students will participate virtually for five weeks to learn all about eating healthy, staying active and developing lifelong healthy habits. Thanks to the generous donations to the Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center, this program is available at no cost to children ages 8 to 12 and their families.

Healthy Kids at Home is designed so you can follow along each week at your own pace. We will provide materials to each registered participant at the beginning of the five-week program. The program details are as follows:

Spring 2024 (Wednesdays, 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM)

Summer 2024 (Wednesdays, 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM)

Weekly, two-way communication is built in to ensure a personalized and successful experience. Participants will be asked to engage with the program content at least once per week, and live learning sessions will be available during certain weeks.
